Truly Scrumptious! Paris Haute Couture Week: Review of Chanel Spring 2010

We are currently amidst Haute Couture week in Paris. I can only imagine how magical my favorite city in the world is right now. Karl Lagerfeld is so smart. He executed the collection in a very directional manner continuously shaping and evolving the typical. Karl Lagerfeld said, “I don’t believe in avant-garde clothes for a future that will never happen. Fashion is always now.” I think it’s funny when we look at the Chanel collection,  McQueen’s shoes and Lady Gaga’s ensemble and classify them as futuristic. It is now. The only question is, will you take part in it, will you make it your now?

The theme was classified as “neon baroque”. My favorite element was the degree of detail on top of the already ornate and decadent collection. Everyone already knows that the clothes and workmanship coming out of the house will no doubt be amazing. For me it was the hair, shoes, makeup, gloves, and stockings which made the entire collection over the top and unforgettable.

While looking through the collection I noticed a range of Asian, confection, romantic, Grecian and masculine elements all woven throughout the collection. The bright colors (sans black and gold for the first time) on the handmade satin, chiffon and silk tulle were especially refreshing.
